Monel K500 or Alloy 500 is in the same nickel based family as other Monel Alloys (Monel 400 and Monel R405). Alloy K-500 is a corrosion resistant alloy similar to Monel 400 but carries with it greater hardness and strength. In addition it’s makeup is mostly that of Copper and Nickel. The reason why Monel K500 has increased properties to that of Monel 400/R405 is that it also contains Aluminum and Titanium. Through their strategic addition the alloy’s composition strengthens through heating under controlled conditions.
Monel K500 can go into many applications, for instance, cables, chains, fasteners, doctor blades, pulp paper processing, pump shafts in oil and gas and sensor components. Alloy 500 comes in round bar, plate and sheet.
